Plan for Reopening of Canyon Hill Facilities

The church board has reviewed the CDC guidelines and Governor Little's recommended guidelines for churches to follow when resuming worship services. *Below is a side-by-side view of the church's plan and the state's guidelines for each stage of reopening. We want to do our part to keep everyone as safe as possible whenever we gather with others.


*Dates are subject to change. The board is closely monitoring state reports and guidelines.


ALL STAGES

Canyon Hill congregants should continue to:

  • Engage in physical distancing of at least six feet
  • Be encouraged to wear face coverings in public places
  • Stay home if sick
  • Practice good hand hygiene
  • Cover coughs and sneezes

Canyon Hill Nazarene Leadership will:

  • Encourage people to maintain the six-foot spacing
  • Ensure frequent disinfection of the church as well as regular cleaning, especially of high-touch surfaces
  • Provide limited number of face masks for guests

STAGE 1 | May 1 - 15th

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS

• Self-quarantine of vulnerable population

• Public and private gatherings should be avoided

• Minimization of non-essential travel

• Sr. Centers remain closed

• Non-essential employees encouraged to work from home

• Large venues remain closed

CANYON HILL’S PLAN

• Continue with online worship

• Continue with online zoom meetings

• Staff continue to work from home primarily unless needed at the office

• Office closed (available via telephone)

STAGE 2 | May 16th - 29th

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS

• Self-quarantine of vulnerable population

• Public and private gatherings of 10 People

• Senior centers remain closed

• Non-essential employees encouraged to work from home

• Large venues remain closed

CANYON HILL’S PLAN

• Continue with online worship

• Continue with Wednesday night adult Bible study via zoom

• Small Groups of 10 or less may gather in homes

• Staff continue to work from home and/or the office

STAGE 3 | May 30th - June 12th

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS

• Gatherings up to 50 people

• No restrictions on travel

• Senior centers remain closed

• Working from home still encouraged

• Large venues remain closed

CANYON HILL’S PLAN

• Gatherings of up to 50 can happen.

o NOTE: The church facility is still not open yet for gatherings of this size until cleaning and disinfecting guidelines are established

• Normal office hours resume

• May 31st - hold special outdoor worship service in the park across the street from the church.

o Bring your own chair

o The church facility will be closed.

o A Port-o-potty will be available.

STAGE 4 | June 13th - June 26th

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS

• Public gatherings of over 50 people permitted with physical distancing

• Employees allowed to return to work

• Senior centers open

• Large venues open

CANYON HILL’S PLAN

• On campus worship services resume (All family worship until further notice)

• Congregation encouraged to keep physical distance

• Offering boxes will be used rather than passing offering plates

• No congregational greeting times

• No communion will be served until further notice

• No Sunday school, no children’s church, no nursery until further notice

• Children will be escorted by their parents to the restroom

• Kitchens will be closed in the church which means no coffee stations, no church meals, and no snacks until further notice

• Wednesday evening activities will resume with proper social distancing.
